Christ's Return, The Hijacked Elephant
Modern Christianity that celebrates the hijacked Ishtar festival is devoid of any understanding of the purpose of the intervening time between Christ's first and second coming. But as we've just read, it is the summer harvest of the first fruits of Christ. [Read the Feature article, Heaven Can Wait]. These Christian first fruits are of the House of Israel. Peter was very clear to whom he was addressing his remarks on that Pentecost day nearly 2000 years ago. "Therefore let all the House of Israel know assuredly, that God has made the same Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ [Messiah] ... Repent, and be baptized every one of you [House of Israel] in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." [Acts 2:36-38; also see the Sneakers article, What About Everyone Else?]. It is no coincidence either that Christ said, "I am not sent except to the lost sheep of the House of Israel." [Mat. 15:24]. And it is equally clear, Christ was not sent to the "gentiles of the world."
Modern day Christianity has lost sight of this elephant. It's been hijacked. In its place we have fables and traditions of men. Even though Christians are looking forward to Christ's return, hardly any understand his return will fulfill the Day of Trumpets given to our forefathers nearly four thousand years ago. Let's read the ordinance for the memorial Day of Trumpets.
"And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 'Speak to the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall you have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. You shall do no servile work therein: but you shall offer an offering by fire to the Lord." [Lev. 23:24, 25].

Like the day of Pentecost in Old Testament Israel, the Day of Trumpets was an annual memorial for the children of Israel while in the land given by promise to Abraham. It was to take place at an appointed time each year as set forth in the law. But it was not the only occasion in which trumpets were used. Trumpets were sounded at the beginning of every new moon, or month, too. “Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, you shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.”
However, the first day of the seventh month marked a special annual occasion that was a high holy day. This day had special meaning for Israel as Robert Jamieson explains. “That which is here made peculiar to this festival is that it was a memorial of blowing of trumpets. They blew the trumpet every new moon, but in the new moon of the seventh month it was to be done with more than ordinary solemnity; for they began to blow at sun-rise and continued till sun-set. This is here said to be a memorial, perhaps of the sound of the trumpet upon mount Sinai when the law was given, which must never be forgotten. Some think that it was a memorial of the creation of the world, which is supposed to have been in autumn; for which reason this was, till now, the first month. The mighty word by which God made the world is called the voice of his thunder [Psalm 104:7]; fitly therefore was it commemorated by blowing of trumpets, or a memorial of shouting, as the Chaldee renders it; for, when the foundations of the earth were fastened, all the sons of God shouted for joy, [Job 38:6,7].”

"For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he has chosen, he has shortened the days." [Mat. 24:22].
To review, Christ opened the first five seals [see Revelation 6] just after his first coming. They are the beginning of sorrows and continue today. As he said, "I am not come to send peace, but a sword." [Mat. 10:34].
The seven trumpets will sound, and at the sounding of the seventh trumpet, or last trump, Babylon the Great will be destroyed in one day, and then Christ will return to set foot on the Mount of Olives. [See Rev. 8-11; also 1 Cor. 15:52].
The duality of the Day of Trumpets should be very clear. It is the next high holy day to be fulfilled by Christ. The hijacked pagan festivals, Christmas, with Santa and the tree, as well as the Easter Bunny, Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess of fertility and war, are obvious fakes. They serve no purpose other than to put us off the straight and narrow path the high holy days were designed to keep us on.
